Quit Partner: Minnesota’s New Smoking Cessation Service

Research shows that smoke-free policies help smokers quit. That’s why, for many years, Live Smoke Free promoted QUITPLAN® Services, as an essential piece of every smoke-free housing policy. Funding for QUITPLAN® Services has reached its predetermined end and the program is no longer accepting new enrollees although participants enrolled on or before March 31, 2020 will be able to finish their current program.

On April 1, 2020, the Minnesota Department of Health launched Quit Partner, Minnesota’s new commercial tobacco cessation program, offering free quit-tobacco services to Minnesota residents who use any form of commercial tobacco including cigarettes, e-cigarettes/vapes, and chew.

Quit Partner will provide many quit support options and resources so Minnesota residents can continue to find the way to quit that works best for them. Free support includes personalized coaching, email and text support, educational materials, and quit medication (nicotine patches, gum or lozenges) delivered by mail.

Quit Partner will also continue to provide all Minnesotans with a choice of high-quality, specialized programs, including for people living with mental illnesses or substance use disorders, American Indian communities (www.aiquit.com), pregnant and post-partum women, and youth under the age of 18 (www.mylifemyquit.com).

For information or to enroll in the new program, participants can call 1-800-QUIT-NOW or visit quitpartnermn.com.

If you have QUITPLAN Services brochures or promotional materials, please recycle those materials. The Minnesota Department of Health will provide a toolkit with new materials to promote Quit Partner.

Thank you for your work and support to help Minnesotans quit commercial tobacco.
