Program Description / Services
The Department of Health Behavior at Roswell Park Cancer Institute is a research-based program that has assessed secondhand smoke exposures and the implementation of smokefree policies in the multi-unit housing (MUH) environment. We have conducted population-based surveys of MUH residents and building owners and managers regarding their knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, and
support toward smoke-free policies in their buildings. Additionally, we conduct research on environmental exposures of tobacco smoke pollution in the MUH environment, including real-time particulate monitoring, nicotine contamination, and other pollution markers. Although we conduct independent research on these topics, we also support other programs in their research and evaluation activities.
The Department works with all multi-unit housing environments.
